In the summer of 2025, Halloran & Yauch added an irrigation system along Deerpath Road in Lake Forest. For years, the city’s advisory committee has wanted to redesign the street and reinforce the main water line that lies beneath the road. Their crew worked for 10 months, tearing up the old road to replace it with the new infrastructure. Once the city finished installing the main water line supply, the road was re-laid and constructed with the street’s new design.

Numerous plant beds were added near the road's crosswalks to comply with the city’s new regulations. State law says that parking spaces cannot be within twenty feet of a crosswalk for safety, hence the newly added foliage. Seasonal and annual florals have been planted, along with numerous native trees that will grow old and provide shade along Deerpath. Pop-up sprinkler heads were added to the flowerbeds to help water the plants.

Additionally, flower baskets with seasonal florals were hung beneath the streetlights. Each basket had micro-drip irrigation installed, which helps it receive water efficiently while minimizing the visibility of irrigation supplies. Given these baskets are in the air and out of reach, this carefully designed drip irrigation system helps the city’s maintenance team save water and save time.
